Supply Chain Canada - Alberta Institute in association with Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT), offers courses in leading to SAIT’s Applied Project Management Certificate.  

In order for a project to be properly executed, critical and processes are required to ensure the project adheres to approved scope, time, cost, and quality baselines. This workshop, based on the Project Management Institute’s (PMI®) latest PMBOK® Guide, focuses on overall project change control, scope control and verification, schedule control, cost control, earned value management, quality control, and risk monitoring and control. Because projects rarely go exactly as planned, we’ll cover effective preventative and corrective actions as well. You will also learn the importance of properly closing a project from an administrative and human resource point of view.

Module 1:       Monitoring and Controlling the Project Work

  • Apply proven tools and techniques for monitoring and controlling project work.
  • Use a structured process for managing changes on a project.

Module 2:       Controlling Project Quality and Validating Scope

  • Explain the tools and techniques commonly used to control quality.
  • Choose the types of activities to perform to gain formal acceptance of project deliverables.

Module 3:       Controlling Project Scope, Schedule and Cost

  • Apply tools and techniques commonly used to control project scope.
  • Use tools and techniques commonly used to control the project schedule.
  • Practice tools and techniques commonly used to control project cost.
  • Summarize tools and techniques commonly used to control project resources.

Module 4:       Controlling Information Flows, Procurements and Closing the Project.

  • Assess effectiveness of project communications and stakeholder engagement approach.
  • Outline the important concerns for controlling project procurements.
  • Determine how to properly bring closure to a project contract and a project or phase.

Instructor: Cindy Kennedy

Cindy Kennedy is a senior project management consultant specializing in strategic technology and business process management projects. Cindy’s primary focus is assisting organizations in the planning and successful implementation of challenging programs and projects for strategic results. Specific areas of expertise include program/project management, project performance measurement, business process improvement, and organizational change management.

Refund and Cancellation Policy: 



  • Registrants will receive a full refund to courses cancelled by Supply Chain Canada, Alberta Institute.
  • Registrants who have received written acceptance into a course and provide written notice to Supply Chain Canada, Alberta Institute of their withdrawal from the course 14 days or more prior to the first day of class, will be provided a full refund. After 14 days prior up to 2 days prior to the start of the class, Supply Chain Canada, Alberta Institute will refund half the course registration fee. After the 2- day period, refunds will not be granted.


Due to unforeseen circumstance if Supply Chain Canada - Alberta Institute cancels an event all registrants will be offered the option to transfer the registration to a future event or receive a refund.
