BACKGROUND

The Supply Chain Canada Executive Round Table series is an exclusive by-invitation event tailored to the needs of senior supply chain and industry business leaders. Supply Chain Canada is Canada’s largest association for supply chain professionals. For over 100 years, the association has worked to strengthen Canada’s supply chain by empowering professionals and industries to lead and innovate.

Taking place at Calgary’s Petroleum Club, this senior-level roundtable will bring together supply chain, procurement and sustainability leaders to explore how to build responsible and resilient supply chains in the face of significant geopolitical volatility. Co-hosted with ESG Risk Intelligence platform Fair Supply, the session will blend global trends and Canadian case studies with insights from jurisdictions with mature ESG regulatory regimes.

OVERVIEW

This senior-level roundtable is intentionally designed to go beyond presentations and foster meaningful, peer-to-peer engagement among executives facing similar pressures. Attendees will have the opportunity to actively network and interact with fellow supply chain, procurement, and sustainability leaders, exchanging real-world experiences on supply chain transparency, risk management, and responsible sourcing.

Through facilitated discussion and open dialogue, participants will gain insight into how peers are responding to emerging ESG regulations, geopolitical risk, and data transparency requirements—what is working, what is not, and where organizations are focusing next. This interactive format allows senior leaders to learn directly from one another, benchmark their approaches, and build trusted connections with peers navigating comparable challenges, making the session particularly valuable for executives seeking practical, experience-driven insights rather than theoretical guidance.

Session themes
Our discussion will focus on the following core themes:

  1. Trade diversification as a resilience imperative
In the face of geopolitical tensions, tariff uncertainty and overlapping ESG regulations, trade diversification is becoming an essential resilience strategy. Kim will unpack how organizations can get the data insights needed to reduce risk while managing the new compliance obligations that diversification introduces. Frameworks such as the EU's CSDDD and CBAM create expectations not just for companies entering Europe but for their suppliers worldwide, meaning that transparency and data readiness will become a licence to operate. Kim will outline what global buyers are already asking of suppliers, and how Canadian organizations can prepare for these emerging demands

  2. Modern slavery risk management as a core procurement function
Australia’s experience demonstrates how organizations evolve when modern slavery reporting becomes mandated. Kim will share lessons on maturing procurement practices that will be highly relevant as Canadian entities move into their third year of reporting under the Fighting Against Forced and Child Labour in Supply Chains Act in 2026.

  3. Lessons from Australia’s early climate disclosure experience
Mandatory climate reporting has elevated the role of procurement in determining the credibility of value chain emissions disclosures. Kim will outline how procurement teams can collect and operationalize climate data, close value chain data gaps, and support suppliers in capacity building. Australia’s trajectory offers a preview of the pressures and opportunities Canadian organizations may face in future as domestic reporting frameworks evolve.
