 Course Overview      
     

In order to succeed in today’s, hyper-competitive, global business environment, organizations must engage in a continuous struggle to find new and better ways to create and preserve value for themselves and their customers.  Support functions within these organizations and in particular, the procurement, contracting and project management groups are well positioned to aid – and even lead - the effort.  Specifically, they can move to overcome traditionally adversarial business practices and systems that tend to damage commercial relationships and often destroy value - and replace them with highly productive, collaboration practices and systems that optimize commercial relationships and generate and sustain value.

 

Key Learning Objectives:       

   

By attending this workshop, participants will:

  • Learn about general collaboration principles and key practices;
  • Become familiar with a range of existing collaborative procurement and contracting methods and how they create value in a variety of industries and geographies;
  • Understand the process for successfully transitioning from traditionally adversarial procurement and contracting processes and systems to their collaborative equivalents;
  • Be able to confidently overcome objections to, and make the “opportunity case” for collaboration – and drive positive change within your organization.
Pre-requisites:      
     

Experience in procurement, contracting, commercial and project management would be beneficial to participants. Collaborative contracting is often attractive to practitioners who have experience with other methods and are looking for something new.

       
     

About the Instructor:

Richard is the principal of Venerus Advisory Partners - a procurement consultancy specialized in supporting and improving the performance of strategic sourcing and contracting functions in private and public sector organizations.  Venerus Advisory Partner’s practice relies on Richard’s 15 years of mixed experience as procurement counsel and as a sourcing specialist and leader.  In addition to a degree in Law, Richard holds a Master of Business Administration degree from the Schulich School of Business, as well as a Bachelor of Commerce degree in Economics.  He is also a certified Change Management expert. Richard is a frequent instructor, facilitator and presenter of procurement and contracting subject matter, for the Supply Chain Management Association.
