Course Overview

While there are many learning opportunities that deliver information on the basics of contracts - there are comparatively few that focus on developing practical skills for use at work. This workshop providing a refresher on the contracting lifecycle is focused on exploring key areas of the procurement contracting process.

For many reasons, contracting activities are conducted without the benefit of a strategy. This course will provide participants with a “Design Approach” document, when diligently applied in practice will result in more effective processing of contracts and improved negotiation outcomes.

Key Learning Outcome(s):

The workshop will provide participants with a “Contracts Data-Gathering Approach Tool” and instructions on how to use it effectively for professional results. This skilled requirements gathering should result in more accurate scope setting, more focused and clearer drafting of intended outcomes and ultimately, higher quality contracts.

There is an art to creating a flexible contract document that can accommodate its business context as well as assure compliance within the prevailing legal environment. This part of the workshop will explore how supply chain practitioners can understand and modify their organization’s standard form contracts to create “best-for-the-situation” documentation.
