Course Overview |
Strategic Supplier Development is defined as an array of activities through which the buyer firms take initiatives to trigger and support the development of chosen suppliers in order to gain a technological advantage and mitigate the risks associated with the supply base optimization. Efforts to identify and mitigate supply chain risk have traditionally focused on operational risks and familiar sources of potential disruption that have caused trouble in the past. But that’s just the tip of the iceberg. Risks are constantly evolving and can strike from almost anywhere – including sources that are new and unexpected. A more holistic approach needs to consider and address four distinct categories of supply chain risk:

About the Instructor: Dan is currently the Supplier Technical Assistance Resident in Global Purchasing for Ford Motor Company of Canada. He is in charge of supplier development for the over 600 suppliers of the Oakville Assembly Complex. Dan teaches Supply Chain Management in the MBA program at the Schulich School of Business at York University and Operations Management, Procurement and Supply Strategy in the BBA / MBA programs at the School of Business and Economics at Wilfrid Laurier University. He is Supply Chain Canada's Principal Education Strategy consultant, the chair of the Academic Content Review round table, the Chair of Supply Chain Canada's Instructors Development Education Committee, a member of the Mechanical and Electro-Mechanical Engineering Program Advisory Committee at Sheridan College, and a member of the National Accreditation Review Panel of the (CSCSC). |
