Course Overview    

We will study the combination of skills, technologies and processes used by organizations to gain insight in to their businesses based on data and statistics to drive business planning.  Business analytics is used to evaluate organization-wide operations and can be implemented in any department from sales to product development to customer service. 

During this course, we will explore how business analytics solutions typically use data, statistical and quantitative analysis and fact-based date to measure past performance in an effort to guide an organization’s business planning for the future.

About the Instructor:

Brian has spent over 35 years as a management consultant and is a Partner with BWDumsday & Associates Ltd. as well as also working as a Senior Associate with The Winslow Group. He specializes in business process re-engineering, project management, the application of industrial engineering techniques to improve operational efficiency and effectiveness, as well as all aspects of supply chain and logistics management. In addition to consulting, Brian taught a regular course at MacEwan University & CITT for five years.

Shortly after leaving MacEwan, Brian continued his part-time teaching for the Supply Chain Management Association (SCMA) and at one time delivered five separate modules as part of the Supply Chain Management Professional Certification program. Modules included Supply Chain Management, Purchasing, Logistics and Transportation, Operations and Process Management and Knowledge Management. In addition, Brian conducted three workshops including Leadership and Professionalism, International Business and Multicultural Skills as well as Business Ethics and Social Responsibility.

Most recently Brian took a break from consulting and worked with the Enterprise Edmonton group at Edmonton Economic Development Corporation to assist local businesses to expand beyond the Edmonton Metro Region through International Trade. Brian is a registered professional engineer and a member of the Supply Chain Management Association, The Logistics Institute and the Society of Manufacturing Engineers.
