Supply Chain Canada in association with Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT), offers courses in leading to SAIT’s Applied Project Management Certificate.  

This workshop, based on the Project Management Institute’s (PMI) latest PMBOK® Guide, provides you with a detailed understanding of the best practice process to properly initiate a project and being the planning process. You will learn how to develop a project charter document and manage the scope of the project. Special emphasis will be given to the project selection process, stakeholder analysis, creation of the project charter, and communications planning.

Module 1:       The Business Case

  • Describe the role of strategy in the organization.
  • Understand and appreciate how a business case helps initiate a project.

Module 2:       Project Initiation

  • Build a shared vision.
  • Understand the importance of initiating a project.
  • Understand and apply the concepts of Project Governance.

Module 3:       Initiating Process Group

  • Perform a Force Field Analysis for a proposed project.
  • Develop a Project Charter for a project.
  • Perform Stakeholder Identification for a project.

Module 4:       Leadership

  • Distinguish between management and leadership.
  • Understand a variety of leadership styles.
  • Understand and be able to recognize characteristics of a Servant Leader.

NOTE:  Meals will NOT be provided during this course.
